Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

The 1980s were a golden era for television drama, offering a diverse range of genres from slick, prime-time soaps to gritty cop shows and heartwarming family sagas. The decade is particularly known for its iconic theme songs, memorable characters, and the rise of the "megahit." Here is a breakdown of 80s drama TV shows, categorized by their style and impact. The Prime-Time Soaps (Glitz, Glamour, and Guilt) These shows defined the "watercooler" moment, with season-ending cliffhangers that became national obsessions. Dallas (1978-1991) : The granddaddy of them all. While it started in the late 70s, its peak was in the 80s. The question "Who shot J.R.?" was a global phenomenon. It's a tale of the wealthy, ruthless Ewing family of Texas and their oil empire. - Why it's great: Villain J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) is one of TV's greatest characters. The plots are ludicrous, the shoulder pads are huge, and the drama is deliciously over-the-top. Dynasty (1981-1989) : ABC's answer to Dallas, but with more glamour and higher camp. It followed the Carringtons, a wealthy oil family in Denver, and their arch-rivals, the Colbys. - Why it's great: The iconic catfight between Krystle and Alexis in the lily pond. Joan Collins as the ultimate diva villainess, Alexis Colby. The fashion and hairstyles are incredibly 80s. Knots Landing (1979-1993) : The more grounded, suburban spin-off of Dallas. It focused on the younger Ewing brother, Gary, and his wife, Valene, in a California cul-de-sac. - Why it's great: It's often considered the best-acted and most well-written of the prime-time soaps. The stories were more character-driven and psychological, dealing with domestic abuse, infidelity, and secrets. The Cop & Detective Dramas (Gritty, Glamorous, and Quirky) The 80s had a cop show for every taste. Hill Street Blues (1981-1987) : A revolutionary show. It used a large ensemble cast, handheld cameras, and overlapping dialogue to create a gritty, realistic, and almost documentary-like feel of a big-city police precinct. - Why it's great: It won a record number of Emmys. It was the first "gritty" drama. The show is famous for its daily roll call line: "Let's be careful out there." Miami Vice (1984-1990) : Style over substance? Yes, but what style! Two undercover detectives in pastel suits and t-shirts drive a Ferrari through a neon-lit, art-deco Miami. The show was famous for its music video aesthetic and use of contemporary pop music (Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, etc.). - Why it's great: It redefined what a TV show could look and sound like. Philip Michael Thomas's "No problem, man" and Don Johnson's stubble and sockless loafers were the epitome of 80s cool. Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) : A lighter, sunnier private investigator show set in Hawaii. Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) solves cases while living in a guest house of a wealthy, unseen author, "Robin Masters." - Why it's great: The pure charisma of Tom Selleck with his incredible mustache. The chemistry between Magnum, Higgins (his foil), and the other ex-Vietnam vets. It's the perfect blend of action, humor, and heart. Cagney & Lacey (1981-1988) : A groundbreaking show about two very different female NYPD detectives. It broke ground for portraying women as competent professionals without losing their personal lives and struggles. - Why it's great: It was a smart, character-driven show that dealt with serious issues like sexism, alcoholism, and breast cancer long before other shows did. The Family & "Troubled Youth" Dramas (Heartfelt & Sometimes Cheesy) Family Ties (1982-1989) : The perfect balance of a warm family comedy-drama. The Keatons were a former-hippie couple raising their very different children, including the ultra-conservative, young Republican Alex P. Keaton. - Why it's great: It launched Michael J. Fox to superstardom. It was genuinely funny and sweet, but also explored the generational and political divide in the 80s. thirtysomething (1987-1991) : A very specific, introspective drama about a group of baby boomer friends in Philadelphia navigating their careers, marriages, and adult anxieties. It was famous for its "yuppie" angst. - Why it's great: It was incredibly well-acted and written, exploring the nuances of adult life and relationships. It's widely considered a forerunner to modern serialized dramas like This Is Us. The Wonder Years (1988-1993) : A nostalgic, coming-of-age drama set in the late 1960s/early 1970s, but its peak popularity was in the late 80s. It was told through the narration of an adult Kevin Arnold looking back on his adolescence. - Why it's great: Its emotional honesty, incredible soundtrack (but only on the original airings due to rights issues!), and the performance of Fred Savage as the young Kevin. It perfectly captured the magic and pain of growing up. The Action & Sci-Fi/Adventure Dramas (Thrills & Escapism) MacGyver (1985-1992) : The ultimate problem-solver. Angus MacGyver was a secret agent who didn't use guns. Instead, he used his vast scientific knowledge and a Swiss Army knife to build incredible contraptions (like a bomb out of a paperclip and a gum wrapper). - Why it's great: It was pure, inventive fun. The show's philosophy of using brains over brawn was unique. Catchphrase: "MacGyver it." The A-Team (1983-1987) : Pure, unadulterated 80s action. A group of ex-military commandos on the run from the government help people in trouble. If there was a problem, they would build an incredibly complex and over-the-top weapon from a tractor and a garbage can. - Why it's great: "I love it when a plan comes together." The action was cartoonish, the characters were iconic (especially Mr. T), and it was never, ever serious. Knight Rider (1982-1986) : A man, a car, a mission. Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) and his artificially intelligent, talking Pontiac Firebird, KITT, fought crime. - Why it's great: It was a show about a talking car. The car was the star. The red scanner light on the front, the turbo boost, and the theme song were legendary. For a More Niche 80s Drama Experience St. Elsewhere (1982-1988) : A "life" hospital drama set in a run-down Boston hospital. It was as groundbreaking as Hill Street Blues but for medical dramas. Dark, complex, and gave us Denzel Washington's first major TV role. Famous for its surreal final episode (which has sparked decades of fan theories). China Beach (1988-1991) : A critically acclaimed drama set at an evacuation hospital during the Vietnam War. It focused on the female nurses and support staff, offering a completely different perspective on the war than most shows. This list should give you a fantastic overview of what made 80s television drama so memorable. Which type sounds most interesting to you?

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
