500 card game
The 500 card game (also known as Five Hundred) is a trick-taking game for 26 players, best played with 4 players in partnerships. It combines elements of Euchre and Bid Whist and is popular in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. Heres a quick overview: ### Key Rules & Setup 1. Players & Teams - 4 players: 2 teams of 2 (partners sit opposite each other). - 3 players: Each plays individually (no teams). - 2, 5, or 6 players: Variations exist but are less common. 2. Deck - Uses a special 43-card deck: - Standard deck but removes cards 25 (keeping 6Ace in each suit). - Adds a Joker (highest trump). - For 56 players, include more cards (e.g., 7s or 8s). 3. Bidding (Auction) - Players bid on how many tricks (613) they can take and the trump suit (or "no trump"). - Highest bidder names trump and must win at least their bid. - Bidding options: - Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs (trump suits). - No Trump (highest bid, no trump suit). - Misère (no trump, bidder aims to lose all tricks; rare variant). 4. Gameplay - Follows standard trick-taking rules: - Lead player plays a card; others must follow suit if possible. - Trump cards beat non-trump cards. - Joker is always the highest trump (if trumps are called). - Teamwork: Partners combine tricks to meet their bid. 5. Scoring - Bid Success: Points = bid value (e.g., bidding "7 Spades" and winning 7+ tricks = 70 points). - Bid Failure: Penalty = bid value 10 (e.g., -70 for failing "7 Spades"). - Bonus: 10 points per overtrick (extra tricks beyond the bid). - Game End: First team to +500 points wins (or -500 loses). ### Card Rankings (Trump vs. Non-Trump) - Trump Suit: Joker (highest) Right Bower (Jack of trump) Left Bower (other Jack of same color) A-K-Q-10-9-8-7-6. - Non-Trump: Ace (high) to 6 (low); Jacks follow standard rank unless theyre bowers. ### Variations - Auction 500: More complex bidding (e.g., "Nullo" bids). - 6-Player 500: Uses a 62-card deck (adds 5s and 4s). - Joker Rules: Some play the Joker as a "full trick" (automatically wins the trick when played). ### Strategy Tips - Count trump cards early to track strength. - Communicate with your partner via card play (but no talking!). - In high bids, prioritize securing key tricks (e.g., Aces, bowers). Would you like clarifications on bidding, scoring, or specific player counts?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
