5 main types of artificial intelligence
Here are the 5 main types of artificial intelligence, categorized by their capabilities and functionality. Most experts classify AI into these two major groups: Based on Capabilities (How advanced the AI is) Type 1: Reactive Machines What it does: The most basic type. It can only react to current situations based on pre-programmed rules. It has no memory and cannot learn from past experiences. Example: IBMs Deep Blue (the chess computer that beat Garry Kasparov). It analyzed the board in real-time but had no memory of previous games. Limitation: Cannot improve over time or adapt to new situations. Type 2: Limited Memory What it does: This AI can look at past data for a short period of time to make decisions. It learns from historical data but does not store experiences permanently. Example: Self-driving cars (they observe the speed and path of other cars from the last few seconds to decide when to change lanes); Chatbots and recommendation engines (like Netflix). Current reality: This is the most advanced type of AI that exists today. Type 3: Theory of Mind What it does: This AI would understand that other beings (humans or other AI) have thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and intentions that differ from its own. It could interact socially. Example: Does not exist yet. This is a future goal. It would be the level of a human companion or a robot that truly understands your feelings. Limitation: A major breakthrough in psychology and neuroscience is needed to build this. Type 4: Self-Aware What it does: This AI has a sense of consciousness and self-awareness. It understands its own existence, its internal state, and can predict the feelings of others. Example: This is the "Skynet" or sci-fi AI. It does not exist and is purely theoretical. Limitation: Philosophers and scientists still debate whether this is even possible for machines. Based on Functionality (What the AI does) Type 5: Narrow AI (Weak AI) What it does: Designed to perform one specific task extremely well. It is "intelligent" within a very narrow domain. Example: Siri, Google Translate, facial recognition software, spam filters, ChatGPT. Reality: 100% of the AI in the world today is Narrow AI. It cannot generalize its knowledge to other tasks. Type 6: General AI (AGI - Artificial General Intelligence) What it does: This is a machine that can understand, learn, and apply intelligence to any problem, just like a human being. It would be as smart as a person. Example: No example exists. This is the holy grail of AI research. Status: It is a future goal. Type 7: Super AI (ASI - Artificial Superintelligence) What it does: An intellect that surpasses the best human minds in every field, including creativity, general wisdom, and social skills. Example: Pure science fiction (e.g., the Borg from Star Trek). Status: Hypothetical and highly debated. Summary Table for Clarity Type Name Does it have memory? Does it exist? : : : : 1 Reactive Machines No Yes (e.g., Chess AI) 2 Limited Memory Yes (Short-term) Yes (Most AI today) 3 Theory of Mind Yes (Emotional) No 4 Self-Aware Yes (Conscious) No 5 Narrow AI Usually Yes (100% of current AI) 6 General AI (AGI) High No 7 Super AI (ASI) Beyond Human No The most common answer: Most textbooks list 1. Reactive, 2. Limited Memory, 3. Theory of Mind, 4. Self-Aware, and then often add 5. Narrow AI as a separate functional type, or General AI as the fifth type.

Venture into the depths of Azeroth itself in this groundbreaking expansion. Face new threats emerging from the planet's core, explore mysterious underground realms, and uncover secrets that will reshape your understanding of the Warcraft universe forever.
The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
